In this section, you will find information on GIVI side cases regarding mounting systems and compatibility, load capacity, usage, security, materials, waterproofing, spare parts, and maintenance.
GIVI side cases are available with different mounting systems: Monokey (PL, PLR, PLO...MK, PLOR...MK frames), Monokey Cam-Side (PL...CAM, PLO...CAM, PLOR...CAM), and Monokey Side (PLX, PLXR).
It is always necessary to check that the case has the same mounting system as the side frame.
A side frame is always required to mount side cases.
Please check the“My Motorcycle” section on the GIVI website to find the available options for your motorcycle model, and make sure that the cases and frames use the same mounting system.
GIVI guarantees the correct mounting of its side cases only when used with the dedicated specific frame. Compatibility with original manufacturer frames cannot be guaranteed.
Monokey and Monokey Side mounting systems have remained unchanged over time; therefore, even very old cases can be used with current Monokey (PL, PLR, PLO...MK, PLOR...MK) or Monokey Side (PLX, PLXR) frames.
No, the first version of Dolomiti cases featured a Retrofit-type mounting system. This system cannot be used on PL One-Fit frames (PLO...MK / PLOR...MK). Older Dolomiti cases can only be mounted on PL/PLR frames.
Each side case has a specific mounting system and must be matched with the corresponding side frame.
PL One-Fit frames can be configured with two different mounting systems by using the dedicated kits: OFMK for Monokey and PLCAM for Cam-Side.
It depends on the capacity and the shape of the case. Some GIVI side case models can hold a full-face or modular helmet. For specific information, please refer to the GIVI website and the product pages of each individual case.
For hard Monokey side cases, the load limit is 10 kg inside each case, except for the E22 cases, where the limit is 5 kg per case.
For soft/semi-rigid bags, please check the limit specified for each product on the internal label or on our website, as the maximum load varies depending on the product.
Side cases also allow luggage to be secured on top of the lid. This load must not exceed 3 kg, and the combined weight of luggage inside the case and on the lid must not exceed 10 kg.
The GIVI range also includes specific cargo bags designed to be mounted on side case lids.
Yes, it is possible to unify the keys of multiple cases / Monokey soft bags / Tanklock tank bags / S250 Tool Box by purchasing the following kits of matching lock cylinders:
(these can easily be converted into standard Security Lock cylinders and used also with cases and accessories originally equipped with Security Lock)
Traditional / standard lock cylinder kits
GIVI recommends not exceeding 120 km/h. GIVI cannot be held responsible for any damage resulting from use at higher speeds.
GIVI side cases are tested both on the road under various surface and weather conditions, and in our laboratories using shakers capable of transmitting accelerations of up to 52g. Structural tests are designed to ensure product durability under the most demanding conditions and at maximum load.
Additional rigorous tests include UV resistance, water resistance, corrosion resistance, resistance to extreme temperatures (heat and cold), packaging durability, and passenger ergonomics on different motorcycle models, along with other tests that may vary depending on the specific product.
Monokey and Monokey Cam-Side side cases are made from 5754 aluminum with a thickness of 1.5 mm.
The plastic material used varies depending on the case and the component, based on whether specific aesthetic qualities (e.g. covers or reflectors) or particular mechanical strength are required. In all cases, GIVI materials are selected through careful design and rigorous validation testing before mass production.
Aesthetic appearance, mechanical strength, impact resistance, and UV resistance are evaluated (aligned with the standards applied to top-of-the-range models from major motorcycle manufacturers), ensuring a durable and high-performing product over time.
Incoming quality control ensures consistency of the raw materials used.
GIVI guarantees a level of water resistance equivalent to heavy rain. The cases are tested using dedicated equipment that simulates rainfall with a flow rate greater than 20 liters per minute. The water flow hits the case at varying angles to replicate a wide range of real-world conditions.
Most components of each side case can be purchased. On the website, you can view the exploded parts diagram of each case to identify the required spare part codes.
